Our history goes back almost as far as home computer games themselves. The company, originally known as Zeppelin Games, began in 1987. Early games production was prolific, with over 250 titles produced by 1990. These included several major TV and sports personality licences.
Wind forward to the early 1990s and the rise of the new Sega and Nintendo consoles saw new avenues for the Eutechnyx drive for success. Projects with top publishers like Codemasters led to number one selling titles like Pete Sampras Tennis and Micro Machines 1 and 2.
As even more powerful games consoles emerged, the Eutechnyx story really began to take shape. We obtained both registered developer and publisher status for Sony PlayStation in 1996.
We’ve never looked back.
Hit followed hit as we produced Total Drivin’, Max Power Racing and Le Mans 24 Hours for the PlayStation with publisher Infogrames. These were followed by 007 Racing on the Sony PlayStation for Electronic Arts and F1 World Grand Prix 2000 with Video System and Eidos Interactive.
In 2001 Eutechnyx became a Sunday Times' Tech Track 100 Company. In 2002 it was also awarded Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 status, for being one of the fastest growing technology companies in the world.
As even newer, more powerful consoles have appeared, we’ve gone up yet another gear. In 2003, Big Mutha Truckers came out for PlayStation 2, Xbox , GameCube and PC. The game became a top six besteller on PS2 in the USA, sold over a million units and even picked up a nomination for a BAFTA award.
In the same year, Brian Jobling, Eutechnyx MD, won Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the north.
That brings us to 2004, and Street Racing Syndicate (SRS), published by Namco. Our latest hit reached number one in the USA on Xbox and number four on the PlayStation 2.
The company also received an Outstanding Practice Award in 2004 from Investors in People. And Director of Business Development, Darren Jobling won a Special Commendation for Export Achievement by Duke of York.
With the successful launch of the sequel to Big Mutha Truckers in 2005, plus a range of racing titles for Take 2, Eutechnyx has also undertaken extensive research and development into the next generation consoles.
2006 will see Eutechnyx publish its first next generation titles, such as MTV’s Pimp My Ride for Activision, plus more original IPs.
